Over the years, the congregation has worshipped
in five different buildings, has been led by sixteen different
senior pastors, and has seen the membership grow from the
charter group of fourteen to over 800 members. The combined
work of the Holy Spirit, faithful involved members, and dedicated
pastors have kept First Lutheran alive and growing for nearly
140 years.

Worship services in the Worship Center, as
well as the indoor and outdoor chapels, Sunday School classes
for God’s children of all ages, opportunities for Christian
fellowship and service within the church and out in the community,
annual Drive Through Living Nativities and Summer Fun Fests
have been a few of the hallmarks of the congregation’s
ministry. The Children’s Day Out (CDO) preschool program
has made First Lutheran a special place for young children,
where they can laugh, learn, and grow as they are nurtured
and guided to develop their own God-given potential.
The recent building of the North Education
Wing and Chapel and the expansion of the Parish Hall, dedicated
on June 11, 2000, have provided the congregation and the community
with space for additional worship and learning ministries
into the 21st century.
First Lutheran is in partnership with the
11,000 congregations, 28 Lutheran colleges and universities,
eight seminaries, 450 world-wide missionaries, one of the
largest non-profit social service networks in the United States
and Lutheran World Relief -- all ministries of the 5 million
member Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
