First Lutheran Church has two youth groups

Senior high school students get together on Sunday nights for supper, games, Bible study and mutual support.

The group, One Way, also engages in service, supports an “adopted” child in Guatemala, and works together to help others inside and outside of First Lutheran Church. In July members of this group travelled to San Antonio for the ELCA National Youth Gathering.

Education is the focus of our middle school youth group, Here We Stand. Seventh and eighth grade students meet on Sunday nights and join their older friends in supper and games. However, the focus of this group is preparation for affirming the vows that their parents and sponsors made for them at baptism. The pastor and lay teachers use multi-media presentations and lively discussions to teach about Luther’s Small Catechism.
